Google has now introduced a new mobile app download ad format. This is aimed at making it easier for the end users to directly download advertisers’ apps. At this point of time this ad format supports both iTunes and Google Play.
However this format is not for everyone. It is only available for users with enhanced campaign settings.
This is what Google has to say about the New launch.
“With enhanced campaigns, click-to-download ads will no longer trigger the app icon, so once you upgrade to enhanced campaign settings we recommend also creating new app promotion ads to replace your click-to-download ads,” Google notes.
To create the ads, open the campaign in AdWords, select the Ads tab, click “new ad,” and pick “App / digital content ad” as your template. Then, select the “App promotion ad.”
Google also added that it might take 24 hours or more for new apps to show up in the search results. Google is also making it easy on the advertisers by making sure that the ads will only show on devices that has the ability to install the app thereby making the campaign more targeted.
Ad revenue is the single biggest source of income for Google, and getting in to targeted App promotion is a step in the right direction.
